An exhibition at the Louvre dedicated to the genius of Leonardo da Vinci
On 24 October 2019, a unique retrospective will open at the pre-eminent Louvre Museum, dedicated to the great Leonardo da Vinci. That extraordinary, exceptionally gifted man was not only an extensive artist – painter, sculptor and writer – but also an engineer, a scientist, a botanist, a town planner, a philosopher, and the list goes on… He is considered to be one of the greatest painters of all time. For the 500th anniversary of death, the Louvre Museum has amassed nearly 120 pieces from the most prestigious European and American institutions. Paintings, drawings, manuscripts, sculptures and objets d’art will provide a rundown of his career as a painter. During the exhibition, the Mona Lisa will remain on display as part of the permanent collection. However, a virtual experience will give you the chance to get up close and personal with that painting in a unique way.
Good to know: because of the expected crowd of visitors, the exhibition will run through 24 February 2020, accessible by reservation only.
