Galeries Lafayette on the Champs-Elysées? Opening late March 2019!
Lafayette decided to move into a 6,500m2 site on the Champs-Elysées
and chose the world famous Danish architect Bjarke Ingels, you might say
they were fearless! The new store has a planned opening date of late March but
very little information on the overhaul of the Art Deco period building has
been released. Of course, this master architect is well versed in the art of
surprise, creating a buzz and tackling challenges. His architectural creations
are famous around the world due to his ultra-innovative ideas, ability to
reconcile the past and the future, use of creativity and daring to deliver on
complex specifications, and more. So what will be his response to this new
challenge combining 1930s and modern styles? Will he create a new Galeries
Lafayette concept using modular art? We cannot wait to see this new store on
Paris’ iconic avenue, located at 25 Avenue des Champs-Elysées.
