When faced with the heat, where can you go to cool off?
We all look forward to the summer with its sunshine and blue skies. But the hottest periods can be a source of dread. Did you know though that Paris is brimming with cool spaces?
I suggest going to a museum, most of which are air conditioned. The Musée d’Orsay is my favourite by far. Right now, a magnificent exhibition is on display there, featuring a leading Impressionist figure, Berthe Morisot. If you like Monet, her work will blow you away. And don’t forget the city’s museums attached to sublimate, intimate gardens, such as the Rodin Museum and the Museum of the Romantics. Paris has many covered passageways (Passages du Panorama, du Brady, Verdeau, du Caire and more), offering cool air, shade and fabulous discoveries.
I also recommend visiting some of our gorgeous houses of worship, like the Sacré-Cœur, the Madeleine Church and the Mosque of Paris. Shopping in air conditions departments stores such as the Galeries Lafayette Champs Elysées and the Bon Marché Rive Gauche is a great opportunity to treat yourself while staying cool. The City of Paris even sets up cool itineraries through town!
